BiographyMarie Roux is an actress-writer-producer. Pre-production has just begun on her first feature film: "I Leave Here," a script co-written with Jennifer Deaton. Marie will portray the lead role of the French character in a story about the right to love and live where our destiny calls. "Innocence Remains," a short film that she wrote, produced and stars in, makes its Los Angeles premiere at the Egyptian Theatre at the ARTIVIST FILM FESTIVAL this December 2009. A unique film based on a true story, it has been shot with the camera Red One and made its World Premiere at the prestigious Miami G&L Film Festival in April 2009. "Innocence Remains" has been selected in numerous festivals all over the world. Marie could not be prouder of her production company MRfeatures first accomplishment, "Remember The Eyes," which she also wrote, produced and stars in. "Remember The Eyes" has also been selected to numerous film festivals all over the world. It made its world premiere in her "homeland" in May, 2008 at the Short Film Corner of the 60th Cannes Film Festival. Indeed, where is Marie's "homeland"? She was born in Gabon, Africa, of French parents. She was raised in Africa as well as Europe. The world is Marie's neighborhood and she feels "privileged to have learned so much from the beauty of different cultures." Marie's love affair with acting started at a very early age. She joined the Regional Theatrical Conservatory of St Raphael, in the south of France, and soon after the prestigious French National Theatrical Conservatory of Nice. When Marie came of age, she moved to Paris to study under Dominique Leverd, a master in the world of Theatre. There, she became acquainted with the teachings of "La Comedie Franaise" and the beauty of the classics. Marie made her debut on the Parisian stage at "Le Theatre de la Plaine, a prestigious theatre where she performed parts of "Antigone, "Amadeus, "La Double Inconstance" and "L'ecole des Femmes. On camera, Marie has played opposite award-winner Souad Amidou in the film "And If We Would Live Together" directed by Nathalie Camidebach. The film went on to be recognized with a nomination for the Clap d'Or Award at "The Sens International Film Festival. On television, Marie also appeared in "Extreme Limits, a long running and acclaimed TV program produced by TF1. Marie was selected to join an elite group of actors to study under the coaching of Actor's Studio and Lee Strasberg Institute laureate Jack Waltzer. Waltzer is credited with training such stars as Dustin Hoffman, John Voight, Roman Polanski, Sharon Stone, Sigourney Weaver, and Fanny Ardant, among others. Not surprisingly, Marie moved to Hollywood and joined the renowned "Stella Adler Academy of Acting. Marie first rattled the boards of the Los Angeles stage with her passionate performance of Satin in Maxim Gorky's masterwork, "The Lower Depth. Soon after, Marie worked with casting director/ coach Sally Jackson, whom Marie describes as "a charismatic woman who taught me the stillness and subtlety of acting for a camera, and above all else, the treasure of cherishing who you are and accepting your uniqueness and differences." Performing in one production after another, Marie is constantly perfecting her craft. Back Stage West described Marie's performance at The Company of Angels Theatre in "Happy Christmas Merry Chanuka" as "exploding with fiery anger, blending into calm reflection, and then into heated passion, and finally giggling togetherness." Legendary Hollywood producer of "Se7en" and "The Accidental Tourist" turned megastar manager, Phyllis Carlyle, represents Marie for film, television and commercials. Marie is a triple black belt in "Ho Shin Moo Do, "Tae Kwon Do" and "Hapkido. A gifted Martial artist, Marie has won several awards and honors. Marie also belongs to Agape, a Trans-denominational Spiritual Center. |
